Followers describe reach, following shows whether the account follows back at scale, the like figure is the lifetime sum of hearts across its posts, and the video count says how much work sits behind the rest. Read together they say more than a follower number on its own.

The card also carries the bio and the verified check, which is exactly what you need when two accounts use nearly the same handle. Large figures are shortened to K and M, so one glance is enough to place an account.

An agency sizes up a creator before a first email. A brand checks a media kit's figure against the account itself. Someone unsure which of two similar handles is the real account looks at the verified mark and the bio rather than the number.

Creators read their own account from a browser where they are not signed in, and anyone following a niche can run through a handful of handles in a couple of minutes without opening the app at all.

The username goes to the profile route, which checks it, strips a leading @ and asks TikTok for the public profile. The answer is mapped down to a small object — username, nickname, avatar, bio, verified flag, and the follower, following, like and video counts — and nothing beyond that is requested or displayed.

That object is cached in Redis for an hour under the username, so a figure can be up to an hour behind TikTok and a repeat lookup of the same account is answered from the cache. A private, renamed or missing account comes back as an error, which the page shows as a message instead of a zero.
