That file is the rendition the platform already stores, so there is no transcoding step and no quality picker: what arrives is what TikTok serves, minus the moving username and logo overlay the app burns in when you save from inside it. Photo and slideshow posts work the same way, except each image comes down as its own file instead of as a video of the slideshow.
A link that no longer resolves is the common failure, and it usually means the post was removed, set to private or restricted in the region the request comes from. Automated flooding is rate limited, so a burst of requests from the same visitor is slowed rather than served. Do I need an account to download a TikTok video?
